Grant Description

The Perot-Fiero Foundation Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia (CFCG), provides financial support to nonprofits and churches that directly serve the Macon-Bibb County, Georgia community. This fund honors the legacy of Erwin A. Fiero, Jr., affectionately known as “Beetle,” a lifelong educator, community volunteer, and advocate for the underserved. Fiero’s commitment to education, service, and community engagement continues through this grantmaking program that supports initiatives closely aligned with his values. The purpose of the Perot-Fiero Foundation Fund is to support charitable organizations and churches that offer vital services such as tutoring, meal and feeding programs, transportation, assistance to individuals with physical and mental disabilities, and home repairs for those in need. All grants must be used for community-based initiatives and cannot be made to individuals directly. This fund particularly prioritizes work in the areas of children, youth, families, education, health and human services, and faith-based initiatives. To be eligible, applicants must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations or churches with their primary offices located in Macon-Bibb County. All funded projects must also be conducted within Macon-Bibb County. Organizations may only receive one grant within any 12-month period, ensuring equitable access to the fund's limited resources. The total amount available for grants during the current deadline cycle is approximately $40,000. There is no fixed maximum or minimum award per organization; however, previous awards have typically ranged between $1,500 and $9,000 per grantee. Funding decisions are made by the Perot-Fiero Foundation Fund Committee and are subject to final approval by the CFCG Executive Committee. Applicants can expect a funding decision within three months after the December 15, 12:00 PM application deadline. Applicants are required to register for the online application portal at least one business day in advance, as processing of new registrations may take time. Required documentation includes the most recent financial audit or IRS Form 990 in PDF format. All grant recipients must submit a final project and financial report no later than one year from the original application deadline, or within 60 days after all funds are spent—whichever comes first. Beginning January 1, 2024, all reporting must be completed through the CFCG online grants portal. The fund also encourages grantees to publicly acknowledge their award by citing the support of the Perot-Fiero Foundation Fund of the Community Foundation of Central Georgia in news releases and social media posts.
