City of St. Petersburg Opioid Support Grants
The City of St. Petersburg is offering grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 to eligible non-profit organizations that propose innovative solutions to the local opioid crisis, with a focus on treatment and recovery support services, overdose prevention, harm reduction, and substance use prevention and education.
The City of St. Petersburg is offering grants to eligible non-profit organizations to address the local impact of the opioid crisis. This initiative seeks to fund innovative, sustainable solutions that fill existing resource or service gaps within the community, specifically targeting new proposals not currently funded by other sources. The city aims to implement new initiatives through this funding, aligning with its mission to support community health and well-being by tackling pressing social issues. The grant program targets individuals with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and the broader community affected by substance use. The impact goals are multifaceted: to increase opportunities for individualized treatment programs and peer support, prevent overdose deaths, reduce opioid-related harms, and provide education and supportive opportunities to prevent substance use while reducing community stigma. By focusing on these areas, the city intends to improve the lives of its residents and foster a healthier, more resilient community. Priority will be given to proposals that focus on respite housing, harm reduction, and peer support. The program is structured into two tiers: Tier 1, Organizational Support Grants, offers up to $25,000 for operating and program costs to advance treatment, overdose prevention, and substance use education. Tier 2, Program Grants, provides up to $100,000 to create or support specific programs directly advancing these same impact areas, covering staff time and program-related costs. This tiered approach allows for flexible funding to support both organizational capacity and direct program implementation. Expected outcomes include an increase in access to individualized treatment and recovery services, a reduction in opioid overdose deaths and related harms, and a decrease in substance use through effective prevention and education initiatives. Measurable results will likely involve tracking the number of individuals served, the scope of harm reduction efforts, and the reach of educational programs. The City of St. Petersburg's strategic priority is to address the opioid crisis comprehensively, and its theory of change posits that by investing in innovative and targeted interventions through community-based non-profits, it can significantly mitigate the crisis's impact and foster a supportive environment for recovery and prevention.
