Grant Description

The Central Kansas Kids FUNd 2025 Grant Cycle is a philanthropic initiative administered by the Central Kansas Community Foundation, with financial backing from the L. Marie Haun Charitable Fund for Children. This annual funding opportunity is dedicated to supporting organizations that prioritize the well-being of children, the strengthening of families, and the promotion of positive parenting practices across specific counties in Kansas. The grant fund is particularly focused on programs that aim to enhance children's behavioral health, provide family-centered support, and develop life and leadership skills in youth. The primary purpose of the Kids FUNd is to allocate resources to projects that foster family resilience, educational parenting initiatives, and community-based youth leadership development. Past funded initiatives have included mindfulness-based parenting programs that reduce economic barriers, youth leadership opportunities that support mental health and reduce substance abuse, and trauma-informed mentorship between parent-child advocates and families. Other previously supported efforts include access to services for children with special needs, temporary housing for children affected by abuse, and parent education classes centered on positive discipline. Eligible applicants must be either 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, exempt entities such as educational institutions or municipal bodies, or organizations formally affiliated with such entities. All applicants must serve within the geographic focus areas of Harvey, Butler, Marion, Elk, Wilson, and Sedgwick (Valley Center) counties in Kansas. In addition, organizations must be in good standing regarding previous grant reporting obligations and demonstrate ethical, experienced management. Applications for the 2025 cycle open on June 11, 2025, and must be submitted online no later than July 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM Central Time. Projects funded through this opportunity may begin as early as September 2025 and must be completed by May 18, 2026. No project may begin before the anticipated grant award date in August 2025. Organizations that received funding in the previous year must have completed all required follow-up reporting to be considered for the current cycle. The maximum funding available per project is $1,500. Projects that focus solely on the distribution of goods, such as food, are not considered a priority unless such distribution is accompanied by components like family engagement or educational services. Grant applications will be reviewed by an objective, regionally sourced review committee, and follow-up requests for clarification may be issued during the review process. The Central Kansas Community Foundation retains full authority over the procedures, rules, and administration of this grant cycle. For further inquiries or support during the application process, applicants may contact Melissa Schreiber, Program Officer – Grants, at (316) 283-5474 or via email at melissa@centralkansascf.org. All application materials must be submitted through the Foundation's online system, and adherence to all stated guidelines is mandatory for consideration.
