The Investments Supporting Partnerships in Recovery Ecosystems (INSPIRE) Initiative is a funding opportunity provided by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to address the substance use disorder (SUD) crisis by supporting recovery ecosystems that facilitate workforce entry or re-entry. INSPIRE aims to create and expand sustainable recovery ecosystems within the Appalachian region, ensuring that individuals recovering from substance use disorders have access to essential services that support long-term recovery and economic self-sufficiency. This includes investments in partnerships that integrate health services, employment training, and community-based support structures. Eligible applicants should propose programs that enhance recovery-friendly employment opportunities and provide comprehensive support for individuals transitioning from treatment to workforce participation.
The current round of funding follows a structured application process. A Letter of Intent (LOI) is required for all applicants and must be submitted by 5:00 PM ET on Friday, February 14, 2025. The full application must be submitted through the ARC online application portal by 5:00 PM ET on Monday, March 10, 2025. To assist applicants, ARC will host a pre-application webinar on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, providing guidance on eligibility, program requirements, and best practices for developing a strong application.
Funding is targeted at projects that promote collaboration between healthcare providers, workforce development agencies, recovery organizations, and other community stakeholders. Applicants should clearly demonstrate how their proposed initiatives will improve employment outcomes for individuals in recovery.
