The purpose of this funding opportunity is to support projects that engage audiences in Hong Kong and Macau and focus on areas such as STEAM-related activities, American English language acquisition, economic empowerment, and academic or cultural exchanges. These projects must emphasize U.S. expertise, experiences, and values. Up to 20 awards are expected, with a total estimated funding amount of $300,000. Individual awards will range between $3,000 and $50,000.
Eligible applicants include registered nonprofit organizations, public and private educational institutions, public international organizations, think tanks, civil society/non-governmental organizations, and governmental institutions. Applicants do not need to have 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Partnerships with U.S.-based organizations or the inclusion of American experts in proposed programs is encouraged, ensuring the incorporation of a U.S. element in the project.
Applications must be submitted by May 16, 2025. Proposals should outline how the program will strengthen U.S.-Hong Kong and U.S.-Macau relations, articulate the inclusion of a U.S. component, and detail the activities, intended outcomes, and impact. Proposals are evaluated on criteria such as alignment with the program's objectives, feasibility, and budget appropriateness. Cost sharing or matching funds are not required.
