Valentine Foundation Social Change Grants

The Valentine Foundation is a private charitable organization based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, dedicated to advancing equity for women, girls, and non-binary individuals. Drawing from the Women’s Funding Network’s framework, the Valentine Foundation uses four key Indicators of Social Change to guide its grantmaking strategy. These indicators include redefining issues, enhancing community engagement, influencing public and private policy, and maintaining progress made in gender equity. The foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations located in the Greater Philadelphia area that focus specifically on the lives of women, girls, and non-binary people. Applicants are encouraged to propose projects that align with the foundation’s commitment to systemic change rather than direct services alone. Organizations can request funding for general operating support or for specific projects. Grants typically range between $7,000 and $15,000, and multi-year awards are possible. The foundation does not fund scholarships, endowments, capital campaigns, international efforts, individuals, or religious or political purposes. The 2025 grant cycle begins with the Letter of Intent (LOI) submission period, which opens on June 30, 2025, and closes on August 31, 2025. After the LOI deadline, all submissions are reviewed and ranked by the Trustees. The top-ranked submissions are selected for further consideration and discussed during a trustee meeting in October. Organizations whose LOIs are selected will be contacted by a Trustee with feedback and an invitation to submit a full proposal. Final funding decisions are made in November, and grant funds are distributed by the end of that month. For the 2025 cycle, the foundation is hosting virtual information sessions to help prospective applicants understand the eligibility criteria, grant focus, and application process. These sessions are scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at 5:00 AM ET, and Tuesday, August 12 at 9:00 AM ET. Each session includes a presentation and a Q&A portion, and no registration is required. Interested parties can join through provided Zoom links. Only nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status are eligible to apply. Priority is given to organizations led by women and those serving underrepresented or marginalized communities. Applications must demonstrate alignment with the foundation’s social change criteria, and those offering only direct services without a social change framework will not be funded.
