The City of St. Augustine’s Neighborhood Grant Program (NGP) is designed to empower local neighborhood organizations—both formal and informal—with funding support for small-scale community improvement projects. Administered by the Neighborhood Services and Community Redevelopment Agency Division, the program aims to promote neighborhood beautification, cultural enrichment, and civic engagement across city-defined neighborhoods. Grants of up to $3,000 are available to eligible organizations to fund initiatives that benefit the community and align with city priorities.
Eligible organizations must be composed of at least three active, unrelated members and have been active for at least 365 days prior to application. Applicants may apply during one of the quarterly windows: January 1–15, April 1–15, July 1–15, or October 1–15. Projects must occur within the municipal boundaries of the City of St. Augustine and fall under one of three categories: Beautification/Placemaking/Revitalization, Enrichment Initiative or Program, or Community Events. Formal and informal nonprofits are eligible, but individuals and familial groups are not.
Applications must be submitted with full documentation including project details, budget, supporting letters, organizational verification, and if applicable, notarized forms such as the Authorized Agent Form or Property Owner Authorization. The application can be submitted via email, mail, or in person. Incomplete applications will be returned. Award decisions are made within the same quarter of submission, based on scoring by the Neighborhood Grant Program Award Committee (NGPAC), a staff review board evaluating the clarity, public benefit, and organizational readiness of proposals. Awards are granted to those receiving at least 15 points in the scoring rubric.
Grants are reimbursable upon presentation of paid invoices or can be paid directly to vendors. Funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, contingent on the availability of fiscal year funds. If funds are depleted, NGP closes until the next fiscal cycle, which begins October 1. Applicants may receive multiple awards in a fiscal year, but total funding cannot exceed $3,000 annually.
Projects must be completed within the fiscal year they are awarded, and a final Project Progress and Completion Report is required within 90 days of completion. Failure to meet reporting or participation obligations may disqualify future funding. For support or inquiries, applicants may contact Jill Collins at jcollins@citystaug.com or 904-209-4201. The full guidelines and application materials are available on the city’s official website.
