Grant Description

The Miami County, Ohio Opioid Settlement Grant Application was developed by the Board of Miami County Commissioners to distribute funds received through the One Ohio Agreement. The goal of the grant program is to support initiatives aimed at prevention, treatment, and recovery from addiction, particularly related to opioids and other co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions. The program is part of a statewide strategy defined under the One Ohio Memorandum of Understanding (OR 2021-35 Exhibit 1), which outlines specific abatement strategies that programs must align with in order to qualify for funding. These strategies encompass a wide range of services including treatment expansion, trauma-informed care, telehealth, prevention programs, criminal justice intervention, workforce development, harm reduction, and support for families and children. Eligible applicants for the grant are nonprofit organizations that operate within Miami County, Ohio. These organizations must be in good standing with all local, state, and federal jurisdictions concerning taxes, fees, utilities, and financial obligations. Entities currently in bankruptcy proceedings or expecting to file for bankruptcy within six months of applying are not eligible to receive funds. For-profit businesses are explicitly excluded from eligibility for this particular grant round. The maximum grant amount that may be requested is $20,000, and the funding must be directed toward programming that occurs within twelve months following the application. While staffing costs may be included, funding for headcount is limited to a one-time allocation for new positions only. All funds must benefit residents of Miami County. Incomplete applications will be disqualified and not considered for funding. Applications for the Fall 2025 cycle open on July 15, 2025, and close at 9:00 AM Eastern Time on August 22, 2025. Submissions are accepted via email at opioidgrants@miamicountyohio.gov or in-person delivery to the Board of Miami County Commissioners' office located at 201 West Main Street, Troy, OH 45373, during business hours (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday). Applicants should be aware that due to file size limitations, multiple emails may be required to submit complete documentation. Required documentation for nonprofits includes proof of 501(c)(3) status, the last two years of tax returns, a board roster, the organization’s annual budget, a signed current-year Form W-9, and proof of anticipated program expenditures. Applications are reviewed by the Miami County Opioid Grant Committee, with final approval authority residing with the Board of Miami County Commissioners. Awardees will be notified within thirty business days and must complete a grant agreement before receiving funds. Disbursements are issued via check to the legal name of the recipient organization. For questions or assistance with the application process, applicants can contact Angela Lewis via email at opioidgrants@miamicountyohio.gov or by phone at 937-440-5996. This grant is issued annually and is expected to recur in future years for the duration of the One Ohio Agreement settlement. The next anticipated opening will be in July 2026.
