Grant Description

Greenspring Advisors, a private wealth management and financial planning firm, established the Greenspring Grant Program in 2012 to formalize its philanthropic efforts and support nonprofit organizations within its local communities. The program reflects the company's values of stewardship and service, and it has become a meaningful way for employees to participate in community investment. As of 2025, the program has awarded $650,000 in grants and continues to be operated entirely by Greenspring staff, with a rotating team of employees responsible for evaluating applications and selecting recipients. The 2025 Greenspring Grant Program is currently accepting applications through July 10, 2025. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Programs operating under a fiscal sponsor’s 501(c)(3) status are also eligible to apply. Organizations may request funding to support general operations or specific programs, but only one proposal may be submitted per year. To qualify, applicants must be based in Maryland, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania. In addition, the organization’s work must focus on one or more of the following areas: Workforce and Economic Development, Financial Literacy, or Entrepreneurship. Specific examples of qualifying initiatives include job and skills training, job creation, development of career pathways, internships, and programs aimed at increasing financial literacy. Greenspring also values opportunities for its employees to engage beyond financial support, such as through volunteering or mentorship. Funding amounts typically range between $5,000 and $20,000, determined at the discretion of the review committee based on the need and nature of the request. Greenspring explicitly outlines several areas that are not eligible for funding, including debt retirement, government agencies (including public schools), capital campaigns, endowments, scholarships, and events such as dinners or drives. Current clients of Greenspring Advisors are also not eligible. Applications must be submitted online between June 10, 2025 and July 10, 2025. Once received, applications are reviewed in collaboration with local community foundations to verify eligibility. If an application meets the requirements, it advances to the employee-run review committee, which selects final awardees. Notifications will be sent to all applicants in September 2025. Applicants with questions or needing more information should contact Greenspring Advisors at their Towson, Maryland office. The firm also has additional locations in Paramus, New Jersey and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and operates weekdays during regular business hours. Contact details are as follows: 443-564-4600 (Towson), 551-249-1190 (Paramus), and 717-393-3353 (Lancaster).
