Grant Description

The Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, with partial support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is launching a special initiative to fund demonstration projects aimed at enhancing equity, inclusion, and access for students with disabilities in nursing education and affiliated clinical sites. This initiative aligns with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report, emphasizing the need for nurse educators to promote wellness and belonging. The grants program aims to create lasting institutional change and innovative models that can be adopted by other institutions to foster inclusive and equitable learning environments in nursing. Projects funded by this initiative will focus on dismantling ableism in nursing education and practice by implementing and evaluating innovative strategies that promote accessibility and inclusivity. Selected projects will receive annual funding between $50,000 and $75,000 for three years, with required in-kind support demonstrating institutional commitment. The program encourages applications that are co-created with people with disabilities and are based in clinical learning environments.
