HealthEquity Community Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations that focus on improving mental health access, financial literacy, equitable healthcare, and basic human needs in underserved communities.
The HealthEquity Community Foundation serves as the charitable arm of HealthEquity, Inc., a private company focused on connecting health and wealth. Its mission centers on empowering communities through strategic investments in nonprofit organizations recognized as 501(c)(3) entities. The foundation’s commitment lies in building stronger, healthier, and more equitable communities by supporting nonprofit initiatives in line with its four established priority areas. A primary focus of the foundation is mental health and crisis intervention. By investing in organizations that expand access to mental health care and crisis response services, the foundation aims to reduce barriers to care, strengthen community resilience, and ensure vulnerable populations can access timely treatment and support. This emphasis acknowledges the critical role of mental health in both workforce and community well-being. Another major area of investment is financial education and literacy. The foundation funds organizations that help close knowledge gaps in financial capability, particularly among women, children, and under-resourced communities. By equipping individuals with resources, training, and programs, the foundation supports long-term financial independence and economic stability for communities. This focus area is intended to promote equity in financial opportunity and strengthen long-term community well-being. Equitable access to healthcare also represents a cornerstone of the foundation’s priorities. Leveraging its parent company’s expertise in health-related services, the foundation funds organizations working to address inequities in healthcare availability. Eligible initiatives may include programs that empower individuals with self-advocacy tools, expand healthcare availability, and bridge disparities faced by underserved communities, thereby ensuring more equitable health outcomes. The foundation also funds programs addressing basic human needs. This includes organizations working to provide housing, food security, and safety resources, acknowledging these necessities as foundational to thriving communities. By meeting these critical needs, the foundation supports individuals in overcoming systemic barriers and achieving higher levels of stability and accomplishment. Grant applications are accepted exclusively from 501(c)(3) organizations in good financial standing. Applicants must demonstrate that they directly provide need-based services, and organizations are limited to one funded award per fiscal year, which runs through January 31. Disaster relief eligibility requires meeting IRS-qualified disaster criteria. The foundation will not fund organizations without 501(c)(3) status, start-up nonprofits, individual fundraisers, for-profit organizations, athletic teams, partisan political activities, or organizations that engage in discriminatory practices. Applications are submitted through Submittable, where applicants must create a free account or log in with existing credentials. Drafts may be saved for later completion, and organizations are advised to check email notifications regularly for updates on their applications. Completed applications are due by September 30 at 11:59 PM MT. The foundation awards $2,500 to selected organizations that align with one or more of the foundation’s focus areas.
