Health Policy Grant

The Health Policy Grant is a program of The Endowment for Health, a private foundation based in Concord, New Hampshire, dedicated to advancing equitable and affordable health care for all Granite Staters. This funding area focuses on improving health outcomes across the state through systems-level policy research, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration. The Endowment supports innovative models, policy development, and provider support strategies that aim to build healthier communities and increase access to care for underserved populations. The purpose of this grant is to identify and address the root causes of health access barriers by investing in initiatives that explore and influence state-level policy. Through research, data sharing, policy analysis, and public engagement, the Health Policy Grant promotes a vision where every New Hampshire resident has access to quality, affordable healthcare. Priority is given to projects that work in partnership with communities and providers to inform legislative efforts, develop sustainable models of care, and foster collaboration across the healthcare and policy sectors. Funding priorities are established in collaboration with partners in the health policy field rather than through a public open call. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Yvonne Goldsberry at The Endowment for Health to explore alignment before developing a proposal. The Endowment values proposals that combine rigorous policy analysis with community engagement and leadership from those impacted by the issues. Projects may include strategic communications, convenings, provider support initiatives, and research that contributes to the health policy landscape in New Hampshire. Applications are managed through the Endowment’s Applicant Portal. Program Grant proposals must include a detailed narrative, a workplan that aligns with the Endowment’s Measurement Framework, and a full budget with justification. The Endowment allows indirect costs of up to 15 percent of direct expenses, excluding contracted services and equipment. Budget templates and planning documents are provided to guide applicants, and all revenues and expenses must be balanced in the submission. There is no published application deadline for this grant. Submissions appear to be accepted on a rolling basis, consistent with the Endowment’s collaborative development model. Pre-application steps such as letters of intent are not required, but applicants are expected to engage directly with Endowment staff in the early stages of project development. After award, grantees receive additional support in the form of agreement templates, budget revision forms, and guidance for reporting and communications. Ultimately, the Health Policy Grant reflects the Endowment’s commitment to health equity through policy change.
