Grant Description

The Charlevoix County Community Foundation (C3F) is currently inviting applications for its Youth Needs Cycle. This grant program is deeply aligned with C3F's overarching mission to enhance the quality of life for all citizens of Charlevoix County, both currently and for future generations. The foundation actively supports this mission by facilitating contributions of all sizes and subsequently making grants to a diverse range of organizations, including schools and municipalities, all aimed at fostering positive change within Charlevoix County. The primary beneficiaries of this program are the youth of Charlevoix County. The grant program's impact goals are centered around addressing critical needs related to youth mental health and school atmosphere. Specifically, under the Youth Mental Health priority, the program aims to decrease the stigma associated with mental health, increase education on the topic, and improve access to direct mental health services for young people. For the School Atmosphere priority, the goal is to enhance acceptance and belonging among youth in schools and reduce school-related stress. The C3F's strategic priorities are clearly demonstrated through these two focus areas. The foundation operates with a theory of change that by investing in youth mental health and fostering positive school environments, it can contribute significantly to the overall well-being and development of the younger population in Charlevoix County. This approach recognizes the interconnectedness of mental health, social inclusion, and educational success as key drivers for a thriving community. Expected outcomes include a measurable reduction in mental health stigma, an increase in youth mental health literacy, and improved utilization of mental health services. In the school setting, the program anticipates an increase in reported feelings of acceptance and belonging among students, alongside a decrease in self-reported school-related stress. While specific measurable results are not detailed in terms of quantifiable targets (e.g., percentage decrease in stigma), the focus areas themselves provide clear indicators for tracking progress and evaluating the program's effectiveness in achieving its stated goals.
