BBB Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship in Colorado and Wyoming
This award recognizes and celebrates emerging businesses in Colorado and Wyoming that demonstrate strong leadership character, foster a positive organizational culture, and actively engage with their communities.
The BBB Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship, offered by the Better Business Bureau Serving Northern Colorado and Wyoming, celebrates early-stage for-profit businesses that exemplify excellence in character, culture, and community engagement. This annual awards program aims to recognize and elevate organizations whose founders demonstrate integrity, a commitment to purpose-driven leadership, and a strong connection to their community. Open to for-profit businesses operating within BBB’s 38-county Northern Colorado and Wyoming service region, the Spark Awards are designed for newer businesses that have been in operation for at least six months and no more than three years at the time of application. BBB accreditation is not required to apply, but applicants must be in good standing with the BBB, possess at least a “B” rating, and show no indicators of financial instability. Government agencies are not eligible. The selection process is overseen by an independent panel of volunteer judges composed of business and community leaders. Applicants must complete a series of nine written questions, providing examples and documentation that highlight how their business embodies character, maintains an authentic culture, and contributes positively to their community. Submissions must also include a three-minute video testimonial showcasing these core principles in action. The video can be informal and is meant to give judges a personal insight into the applicant’s values and vision. Winners will be announced during the BBB Celebration of Ethics event, scheduled for April 21, 2026, at the Embassy Suites in Loveland, Colorado. This widely attended annual event hosts over 500 local business and community leaders. Recipients will be featured on the BBB’s website and social media platforms, and winners must agree to provide full usage rights to their submitted video for these promotional purposes. Entrepreneurs interested in applying are encouraged to contact Jami Jonckowski-Wiens at 970-488-2048 or via email at [email protected] for questions or eligibility confirmation. This program represents a unique opportunity for small businesses to gain visibility and recognition for embedding ethical practices and community impact into their foundational operations.
