B. Braun Grant for an Investigator-Initiated Study
This grant provides funding for non-profit organizations and researchers to conduct studies that address unmet medical needs and advance treatment in B. Braun's therapeutic areas of interest.
B. Braun’s Investigator-Initiated Study (IIS) Grant program supports independent research efforts led by clinicians, scientists, and research institutions aiming to advance medical knowledge, treatment approaches, and the standard of care. The company emphasizes its commitment to improving human health by enabling researchers to pursue studies of scientific merit, particularly those that address unmet medical needs or novel therapeutic questions. This initiative reflects B. Braun’s broader mission of enhancing patient outcomes through ethical, evidence-based partnerships with the research community. In an IIS arrangement, the investigator or institution retains full responsibility for study design, data integrity, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. B. Braun does not assume sponsor responsibilities but instead provides financial or in-kind support for qualifying studies. Grant decisions are made based on scientific value, feasibility, the potential health impact of the study, and available funding resources. Applicants must include a study protocol and budget as part of their initial submission. If human subjects are involved and institutional review board (IRB) approval has already been obtained or exempted, that documentation should be included. Before any grant-supported study can begin, the investigator and B. Braun must enter into a fully executed research agreement. In cases involving human participants, final IRB approval or exemption must also be submitted prior to study initiation. The program does not specify an application deadline, which suggests that it operates on a rolling basis. B. Braun notes that grant awards are subject to availability of funds and the alignment of the proposed study with its areas of focus. All required forms and supporting documentation must be submitted through the official channels. Submissions sent directly to B. Braun employees are not accepted. For inquiries or technical issues, B. Braun directs all communication to GrantRequests@bbraunusa.com. The IIS program represents one of the company’s core mechanisms for supporting scientific discovery alongside product donations, charitable contributions, and educational grants.
