Grant Description

The Fall 2025 Expanding Access & Resources to Behavioral Health Impact Grant is offered by the United Way of the Wabash Valley (UWWV), a private nonprofit organization serving a six-county region in Indiana and Illinois. With $175,000 in total funding allocated, this opportunity seeks to support multi-year initiatives that improve behavioral health outcomes through comprehensive, sustainable strategies. The Impact Grant Track is distinct from the Mini-Grant in that it targets longer-term, more complex needs with a higher award ceiling and a longer grant period. Impact grants range from $10,001 to $40,000 and are intended for programs that span two years. Applicants can request up to $20,000 per year. The funding is designed to support innovative programming that improves mental health and substance use outcomes, promotes public education and awareness, and removes access barriers such as transportation or lack of knowledge about available services. Programs may be new or expand on existing initiatives with a proven record of success. Collaboration is strongly encouraged, and special consideration will be given to efforts that engage the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population or address emergency service needs. Organizations eligible to apply include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, faith-based and community-based organizations, educational institutions, and units of local government operating in Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion, or Vigo Counties in Indiana or Clark County in Illinois. All applicants must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) and a required Stewardship Package by October 23, 2025, via the e-CImpact system. A required training meeting for application submission will follow on November 5, 2025. Full applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on December 15, 2025. Final award notifications will be made in February 2026, and the funding period will begin shortly thereafter. Funded programs must track specific outcome indicators such as number of individuals reached, new participants served, or barriers overcome. A detailed project narrative, work plan, and budget are required in the application, along with proof of financial health and organizational capacity. Partial funding will not be considered; applicants must request the exact amount needed and will either receive full funding or none. All applications will be evaluated by trained community volunteers based on United Way’s “Best Investment Criteria,” which include alignment with UWWV’s goals, demonstrated impact, organizational resources, and sustainability. The primary contact for the grant process is Michele Bennett, reachable at mbennett@uwwv.org or 812.235.6287. All communications regarding the grant opportunity must go through UWWV’s Community Impact staff.
