Veteran Grant 2026

The Hanger Foundation is offering its 2026 Veteran Grant to support nonprofit organizations serving veterans, specifically those addressing the needs of individuals with physical challenges. The foundation's mission aligns with empowering communities through rehabilitation and support services, with a particular focus on veterans. The foundation seeks to partner with organizations whose efforts directly contribute to the well-being of veterans, especially amputees or individuals with limb differences. For this grant cycle, eligible applicants must demonstrate a clear focus on providing rehabilitation and support services for conditions such as strokes, sports injuries, or combat-related injuries. In addition, programs that include athletic initiatives, social activities, or community events for physically challenged veterans are strongly encouraged. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that align closely with its mission and strategic goals. Applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating within the United States. The foundation strictly excludes funding for individuals, political organizations, endowments, pilot or seed projects, capacity building, and capital campaigns. Grants are available for up to $20,000 and are limited to one-year funding periods. Operating expenses are eligible but capped at 15% of the total grant request and only permissible if they are directly tied to the funded project. All applicants must complete a formal application via the SmarterSelect platform. Required documentation includes IRS 501(c)(3) status confirmation, recent IRS Form 990, current board list with affiliations, professional biographies of the Executive Director and relevant staff, a diversity statement related to staff and board demographics, and current and next fiscal year budgets. A project-specific budget is also required if relevant to the proposal. Applications for the 2026 Veteran Grant must be submitted by June 9, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
