Grant Description

The Daniel J. Briggs Fund for Integrity is administered by the Northern New York Community Foundation and is committed to fostering character education and positive student environments in schools within Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. The fund honors the values and memory of Daniel J. Briggs and aims to enhance the educational climate through targeted initiatives focused on respect, leadership, responsibility, and trust. The fund supports character education programs and other thoughtful initiatives that foster a positive school culture. It also prioritizes professional development opportunities for educators and school staff on topics such as bullying prevention and character development. Additionally, programs that promote social media safety among students are eligible for funding. These activities may include workshops, in-school programs, training sessions, and collaborative efforts with other community organizations. Applicants may request up to $2,500 per application. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis and funding decisions are made quarterly, contingent on available resources. Awarded applicants have up to one year from the grant award date to complete their projects. The foundation encourages applicants to discuss their funding requests in advance to ensure alignment with program goals and funding availability. To be eligible, applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Schools and other entities without this IRS designation may apply with a fiscal sponsor that meets the eligibility requirements. Confirmation of this partnership must be submitted at the time of application. Fiscal sponsor details, including EIN and contact information, are required as part of the application. The application process includes submitting a mission statement, detailed project description, budget, project timeline, list of community partners, proposal goals, and sustainability plans. Applicants must also detail how the grant and the Northern New York Community Foundation will be acknowledged in outreach efforts. Required attachments include a signed letter of support from a school administrator or board chair and any additional supporting materials relevant to the proposal. For questions and additional information, applicants should contact Max DelSignore, Vice President at the Northern New York Community Foundation, via email at max@nnycf.org. Applications are accepted until all available funding is allocated.
