The Skål International Sustainable Tourism Awards recognize outstanding contributions in sustainable and responsible tourism. These awards are designed to enhance visibility and grant recognition to entities in the travel and tourism industry that demonstrate best practices in sustainability. Skål International, an Affiliated Member of UN Tourism, established these awards in 2002, following the United Nations' declaration of that year, to spotlight global best practices in tourism. The organization aligns with the UN Tourism Global Code of Ethics in Tourism and supports initiatives like Sustainable Tourism-Eliminating Poverty (ST-EP). Additionally, Skål International collaborates with PATA, IIPT, The Code, ECPAT, and WTTC, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability. The 2025 Sustainable Tourism Awards invite applications from tourism-related businesses, organizations, and projects that exemplify sustainability. Eligible categories include: Accessible Tourism Accommodation, Food, and Hospitality Services Communications Community, Government, and Service Companies Projects Educational and Social Programs Innovative Sustainable IT Solutions Land and Marine Biodiversity Tour Operators and Travel Agencies The submission timeline for the 2025 awards is as follows: March 1, 2025 – Call for Entries May 31, 2025 – Deadline for Submission July 31, 2025 – End of Judges' Evaluation Period September 26, 2025 – Awards Presentation Winners will be officially announced during the 2025 Skål International World Congress, scheduled to take place in Cuzco, Peru, from September 25 to 30, 2025. The Awards Presentation will be held during the Opening Ceremony on September 26, 2025. Skål International will provide winners with a specific awards package, covering attendance at the Skål World Congress Get-Together Party (September 25), accommodation at one of the Congress hotels, and lunch following the Awards Ceremony (September 26). However, travel expenses are not included. Winning an award offers significant benefits, including increased visibility, industry recognition, global networking opportunities, and media exposure across Skål’s membership and international press contacts. Award winners are encouraged to collect their trophies in person at the Skål World Congress.
