Grant Description

The New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program (NJATP) is a state-funded initiative created through legislation (L. 2023, c. 87) and administered by the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism in collaboration with the New Jersey Department of Agriculture. This program is supported by the Agritourism Fund, which provides annual appropriations to enhance New Jersey’s agritourism sector. The NJATP aims to strengthen the appeal of agricultural businesses that incorporate tourism activities, thereby increasing visitation, education, and revenue for farms, wineries, breweries, distilleries, and similar entities. The NJATP provides up to $100,000 per award to eligible agricultural businesses that operate in New Jersey. The funding supports a broad range of agritourism activities, including educational programs, entertainment experiences, seasonal events, and marketing campaigns. Examples of eligible activities include pick-your-own produce operations, corn mazes, hayrides, farm tours, and winery or brewery tastings. Projects must clearly tie to agritourism and demonstrate their ability to engage visitors, promote agricultural products, and enhance the economic viability of the host business. The total available funding for the program is $5 million. Although there is no matching requirement, applicants are encouraged to show evidence of additional funding support, particularly for projects partially funded by NJATP. Pre-award costs incurred on or after January 1, 2026, may be eligible for reimbursement. Projects must be completed within a 12-month performance period starting no earlier than April 1, 2026, and ending no later than April 1, 2027. Eligible applicants include New Jersey-based farms, ranches, on-farm and off-farm wineries, breweries, distilleries, and other agricultural businesses, provided their operations are physically located in New Jersey. Applicants with multistate operations must document that grant-funded activities occur solely within New Jersey. All applicants must maintain required insurance coverage and submit proof prior to award issuance. Applications must be submitted using the official “NJATP_Application” form via email to [email protected] by 5:00 PM EST on January 30, 2026. Late applications may be considered on a rolling basis if funding remains available. The review process is competitive and led by NJDA staff. Applications are evaluated based on the clarity and feasibility of the proposed project, its potential to attract visitors and generate revenue, and alignment with New Jersey-sourced agricultural products. Bonus points are awarded for promoting locally sourced products. Applicants will be notified of awards as soon as decisions are made. Funding will be disbursed quarterly on a reimbursement basis, and grantees will be subject to performance and financial reporting requirements outlined in the signed grant agreement. The program operates on an annual cycle, and future opportunities are expected.
