Grant Description

The Fall 2025 Agora Venture Competition offers early-stage women and non-binary founders in the Washington, D.C. metro area a chance to win a $10,000 non-dilutive grant and gain exposure to leading investors, founders, and innovation ecosystem leaders. Hosted by Agora, the competition seeks to highlight venture-ready businesses with strong early traction and scalable potential. Applicants must self-identify as either female or non-binary and must be based in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia. Founders must own at least 25% equity in their company, hold a C-suite title, and be actively involved in the business on a full-time basis, with limited exceptions. Companies must be incorporated as for-profit entities and demonstrate meaningful traction beyond the idea stage—such as revenue generation, user engagement, or another clear signal of product-market fit. Agora is seeking applicants whose companies demonstrate potential for venture-scale growth. While traditional consultancies or service-based businesses are not considered a good fit for this competition, interested founders from those sectors are invited to reach out for alternative ways to engage with the community. Applications open on September 9, 2025, and close on September 30, 2025. All submissions will be reviewed by an investor committee throughout October. Finalists will be notified by October 31 and must participate in a live pitch showcase on November 12, 2025, in Washington, D.C., in order to remain eligible for awards. One winner will be selected to receive a $10,000 non-dilutive grant. Additional in-kind or secondary prizes may also be awarded at the discretion of the selection committee. Agora’s goal is to elevate underrepresented founders by providing capital access and visibility through its venture competition platform. For more information or application access, applicants should visit Agora’s official site or contact the organizing team directly.
