City of Powder Springs Neighborhood Beautification Grant Program
This program provides funding to homeowners associations, neighborhood organizations, and multi-family property owners in Powder Springs to improve the visual appeal of their neighborhoods through exterior beautification projects.
The City of Powder Springs offers the Neighborhood Beautification Grant program as a local initiative aimed at enhancing the visual character of neighborhoods within its municipal boundaries. The program supports projects that improve the appearance of community entrances, common areas, and building exteriors. With a grant range of $500 to $4,000, the initiative is designed to encourage grassroots revitalization efforts that visibly enhance the community environment and align with the city's aesthetic goals. This program is part of a larger vision by the City to promote community pride, livability, and cohesion among residents. Eligible applicants include homeowners associations, neighborhood-based organizations, and multi-family residential property owners. These entities must serve a defined geographic area within Powder Springs and be open to all eligible residents of that area. However, community-based organizations not tied to specific residential neighborhoods, such as civic clubs or youth groups like the Boy Scouts, are not eligible. In addition, applicants must be current on all city obligations, not involved in litigation with the city, and must not own or manage a property in violation of city codes. Entities affiliated with government officials or those disbarred from federally funded programs are also ineligible. Approved projects must focus exclusively on exterior improvements visible from public streets. Examples of eligible activities include installing neighborhood signage, organizing cleanups, building playground equipment in public or vacant areas, and establishing community gardens. All proposed projects must be consistent with existing land use and design characteristics of the location, and must comply with city zoning and code regulations. Ineligible uses of funds include roof repairs, security systems, general interior maintenance, equipment purchases, or projects already underway before receiving city approval. The application process is conducted entirely online through the city's website. Applications open on July 28, 2025, and must be submitted electronically no later than 5:00 p.m. on September 30, 2025. Required documentation includes the completed application form, a signed recipient agreement, and supporting materials necessary to evaluate the project. Submissions will not be accepted in hard copy, and applicants must use the official digital form provided. Funding will be distributed in stages: 50% upon project approval, 25% upon commencement of work, and the final 25% upon verified completion in accordance with grant terms. All projects must be completed by April 1, 2026. Evaluation of proposals will consider how effectively the project meets the programโs objectives, its feasibility, and sustainability, especially regarding long-term maintenance. Preference will be given to highly visible projects, older neighborhoods with greater needs, and areas within each city ward and the designated Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study area. Final grant awards will be determined during the week of November 2, 2025. To ensure equitable distribution, the City has committed to awarding at least one grant per ward and one within the LCI study area. Questions about the program can be directed to beautificationgrant@cityofpowdersprings.org. There are no listed office hours or Q&A sessions, and no pre-application steps are required. The program is expected to recur annually, with the next cycle anticipated to open in late July 2026.
