Additionally, facilities must operate within five years of the grant agreement’s effective date and produce fertilizers entirely in Minnesota.
The program prioritizes projects demonstrating business readiness, securing private or public financing, and being located in counties with a poverty rate exceeding 9%. Approximately $6.665 million is available for funding, with individual awards ranging from $250,000 to the total available amount. Each facility requires a separate application, and a minimum 50% matching investment is mandatory, which may include cash or in-kind contributions.
Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Central Time on March 18, 2025, through an online portal. First-time applicants need to create an account before accessing the "Green Fertilizer Grant" application. The Request for Proposals document outlines detailed requirements and instructions for submission. Applicants are encouraged to prepare thoroughly to ensure eligibility and compliance with all program rules.
