Funding available for Community Needs in Greater Salina
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and religious groups in Saline County to address various community needs and initiatives.
The Fund for Greater Salina is a community grant program supported by donations to the Foundation, offering financial assistance to address diverse charitable needs in the Salina area. These funds are unrestricted and permanently endowed, allowing flexibility to support evolving community priorities. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, educational and governmental institutions, and religious organizations. Individuals or groups outside these categories may also apply if they partner with a qualifying fiscal agent, or they may contact the Foundation to discuss eligibility requirements. The grant is geographically limited to projects within Saline County or charitable organizations outside the county that are founding donors. The fund supports a wide range of projects and organizational needs, including community service initiatives, mission-driven programs, and start-up costs for new projects. It also funds capacity-building activities such as professional development, technological upgrades, and staffing for new programs. Capital improvements, including new construction or facility renovations, are also eligible for funding, as are endowment funds aimed at providing long-term organizational support. However, endowment requests are less likely to be prioritized unless they support a distinct initiative. Certain types of projects and expenses are not eligible for funding. The program will not consider incomplete or late applications, political activities, projects that discriminate, or requests to cover existing debts or past expenses. Organizations are advised to ensure their projects align with the Foundation’s criteria before applying. Applications must be submitted through the Foundation’s online grant system. There is no restriction on issue areas or target populations, allowing for a broad spectrum of community-focused projects. However, the grant committee evaluates applications based on their potential impact on the community and the alignment with the organization's mission. For guidance on applying or any specific questions about the program, applicants can contact Jessica Fuller, Director of Grants and Scholarships, at 785-823-1800.
