Sacramento Film + Media Grant
This program provides funding to filmmakers and media producers to support film and television projects that take place in Sacramento, promoting local economic and cultural growth.
The Sacramento Film + Media Grant Program for FY 2024-2025 is designed to sustain and expand film and television production activities within the City of Sacramento. The program provides funding to help subsidize required city permit fees, reduce costs for safety personnel, and reimburse qualified production and post-production expenses occurring within Sacramento. Managed by the Cityโs Office of Arts and Culture, the grant aims to enhance the economic and cultural vitality of the community by supporting diverse, locally impactful media projects. The program will offer up to six $10,000 production grants and up to two $5,000 post-production grants during FY25. Applications are accepted during two grant rounds. Projects must film at least 50% of the production and use two or more locations within the City of Sacramento to be eligible, or for post-production grants, 75% of post-production must occur in the city. Grants are awarded on a reimbursement basis following thorough evaluation against economic impact, community impact, and project feasibility criteria. Eligible projects include feature-length films, short films, episodic television, pilots, television movies/miniseries, documentaries, docuseries, commercials, music videos, and unscripted television. Applications must be submitted before production commences (except documentaries) and must include a treatment, budget, shooting schedule, vendor list, crew list, hotel nights estimate, and a demonstration of prior experience. The second application round opens March 15, 2025, and closes May 15, 2025, at 11:59 PM PST. Awards will be announced approximately four weeks after the submission deadline. Successful applicants must comply with insurance requirements, execute a grant agreement within 30 days, and provide a detailed post-event report following production.
