Grant Description

The Educator Grants Program, operated by Citizens for Nuclear Technology Awareness (CNTA), is a targeted funding initiative aimed at enhancing STEM education across specific counties in South Carolina and Georgia. CNTA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to public education and awareness about nuclear technology, focusing on its contributions to health, the economy, the environment, and national security. As part of its mission, CNTA supports innovative instruction by K–12 educators and fosters student engagement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In 2026, CNTA is continuing its Educator Grants Program, which was designed as an alternative to traditional in-classroom experiences and field trips, enabling teachers to develop meaningful STEM-based projects with the help of financial resources. Grants of up to $1,000 are available for projects across all grade levels from pre-K through 12, and in all science and technology subjects. Special consideration is given to proposals that explore nuclear science, including radiation safety, nuclear fundamentals, and applications of nuclear technology. These projects are expected to incorporate elements of the scientific method or broader scientific inquiry. Eligibility for the program is specifically extended to educators teaching in the South Carolina counties of Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Edgefield, and Orangeburg, as well as the Georgia counties of Columbia, Richmond, and Burke. Additionally, CNTA members who are teachers may apply regardless of where their school is located. Applications can be submitted by individual teachers or by groups and must be approved by a school principal. CNTA makes the application process accessible through direct email distribution to school leaders and CNTA members, and also through their official website. The application requires a detailed proposal addressing specific prompts, which must fit within a six-page limit. Proposals should highlight how the project supports curriculum objectives, the scope of student involvement, and how success will be measured. The organization encourages collaborative efforts, utilization of available science kits from educational centers, and the inclusion of expert volunteers from CNTA’s network to enhance proposals. The deadline for submitting applications for the 2026 grant cycle is February 28, 2026. Completed applications must be emailed to both [email protected] and [email protected] with “CNTA Educator Grants Program” in the subject line. Confirmation of receipt will be issued within two business days. Award decisions will be communicated to all applicants—both selected and not selected—before April 15, 2026. While the program does not require cost sharing, it emphasizes thoughtful design and curricular relevance. The Educator Grants Program reflects CNTA’s broader commitment to nurturing scientific literacy and understanding among students by supporting educators with the tools to teach complex and impactful subjects in engaging ways.
