Grant Description

The Women’s Business Development Council (WBDC) is offering the Child Care Emergency Facilities Grant to provide financial support to licensed child care businesses in Connecticut that require emergency facilities funding. This grant is specifically aimed at providers facing urgent maintenance issues that threaten their ability to operate safely. It is not intended for elective business upgrades, general maintenance, or operating expenses. Child care centers, group homes, and family homes that meet the eligibility criteria may apply for funding up to $15,000. The program seeks to assist licensed child care providers in addressing emergency repairs that they cannot afford through business income or savings. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate an urgent need, commit to remaining in business, and meet several eligibility requirements. These include operating as an OEC-licensed full-time program for at least six months, maintaining at least 60% enrollment capacity, showing profitability in at least one of the past three years, and being in good standing with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (CT DRS). Applications for the grant are reviewed on a rolling basis, with decisions made monthly. The application process includes an initial pre-application phase, which is used to determine eligibility before applicants are invited to submit the full application. The program remains open until June 15, 2024, or until all available funds are awarded. Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend an information session to better understand the application process and eligibility criteria. The WBDC has also provided contact points for applicants who may need alternative funding options. Interested parties can reach out to Tanya Kelley or Samantha Cross for English-language inquiries, and Zayed Rodriguez for Spanish-language support. For further details and inquiries, applicants can contact WBDC via phone at (203) 353-1750 x129 (English) or (203) 353-1750 x113 (Spanish), or email childcaregrants@ctwbdc.org.
