The Junior League of Springfield’s 2025 Capacity Building Grant Program offers nonprofit organizations in Sangamon, Christian, and Montgomery Counties of Illinois an opportunity to invest in their internal leadership and management infrastructure. This grant program provides up to $1,500 per organization to support attendance at workshops, conferences, or customized trainings for staff or board members. The goal is to enhance the strategic and operational effectiveness of local nonprofits through targeted professional development.
Capacity Building Grants can be used for a wide range of expenses related to the proposed professional development opportunity, including registration fees, travel, meals, lodging, and consulting fees. However, the training must focus on strengthening organizational governance, leadership, or management, not program-specific content. Funding is intended only for future activities; training or events that have already occurred are ineligible.
Eligible applicants must serve communities within Sangamon, Christian, or Montgomery County. Organizations may only apply once per year and must contribute at least 20% of the total cost of the professional development initiative. Priority is given to organizations with annual operating budgets under $1 million.
The application deadline is May 5, 2025, by 11:59 PM. All applications must be submitted through the online portal. Returning applicants can log in to resume or complete their applications.
