Wyoming Community Foundation Grants
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Wyoming that propose sustainable solutions to community challenges through collaborative efforts and strategic initiatives.
The Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) offers General Grants to support nonprofit organizations that are addressing significant needs within their local communities across Wyoming. WYCF is a private philanthropic organization that has been providing funding and support to nonprofits throughout the state for decades. Their mission is to connect people who care with causes that matter by offering resources that enable nonprofits to develop sustainable solutions to complex community issues. The General Grants program prioritizes applications from nonprofit organizations that demonstrate a clear understanding of community needs and propose projects that aim for long-term, sustainable change. Strong preference is given to initiatives that show collaboration with other nonprofit entities or local programs to avoid service duplication and to enhance efficiency. WYCF values the ability of grantees to leverage awarded funds to obtain additional or future funding, amplifying the impact of each grant dollar awarded. Grant applications are accepted twice annually, with deadlines on March 15 and September 15. If these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, applications are due on the following business day. Notification of award decisions is provided on June 15 for the March deadline and December 15 for the September deadline. Due to this biannual cycle, applicants are limited to submitting only one application per calendar year. An organization that applies in March, for example, is not eligible to submit another application until the following March, unless special permission is granted. Additionally, a final report on any awarded funds must be submitted and accepted before a new application can be considered. The program does not fund lobbying efforts and does not provide grants to individuals. Applications for block grants, capital campaigns, annual fundraising campaigns, debt retirement, and one-time special events are considered lower priority and are less likely to be awarded funding. The foundation encourages potential applicants to align their proposals with the Foundation’s long-term community impact goals. To apply, applicants must complete the grant application as directed on the WYCF website. All required documentation and narratives must be submitted by the published deadlines. Although no formal pre-application is required, WYCF encourages organizations with questions to contact Cassandra Hunter, the Foundation’s Programs Associate, via email or by scheduling time during the Foundation’s designated office hours. A complete grant report is mandatory before a previously funded applicant can reapply. WYCF's General Grants program operates on a recurring basis, allowing nonprofit organizations to plan accordingly for future opportunities. The upcoming cycle is expected to open in March 2026. Organizations are advised to prepare their proposals in advance to meet the March 15 deadline.
