Loudoun Impact Fund

The Loudoun Impact Fund, a collaborative effort between the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties and the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, offers grant opportunities to qualifying organizations serving Loudoun County. This initiative aligns with the foundations' broader mission to foster community well-being by pooling resources from caring donors—individuals contributing $1,000 and foundations/corporations contributing $5,000—to maximize funding impact within the local community. The fund operates as a giving circle, empowering donors to serve as volunteer proposal reviewers and collectively make funding recommendations, thereby engaging them directly in the grantmaking process and ensuring strategic alignment with identified community needs. The primary goal of the Loudoun Impact Fund is to positively impact three specific vulnerable populations within Loudoun County: at-risk children and youth, people with disabilities, and older adults. The fund seeks to achieve this by supporting services and projects that address critical needs and improve the quality of life for these groups. Through strategic grantmaking, the fund aims to achieve measurable outcomes such as enhanced access to basic needs, improved physical and behavioral health, increased educational and employment opportunities, and strengthened social support networks for its target beneficiaries. The Loudoun Impact Fund prioritizes applications that address a range of essential services and projects. These include basic needs support (food, shelter, housing), physical and behavioral health and wellness, and trauma-informed services addressing family violence and abuse for all three target populations. Additionally, the fund focuses on academic and school-readiness support, high-quality child care, and youth development and leadership opportunities for at-risk children and youth. For people with disabilities and older adults, priorities extend to life-skills, literacy services, job training, employment placement, social support, day-support, transportation assistance, and respite care. The theory of change underpinning the Loudoun Impact Fund posits that by strategically investing in these critical areas, the pooled resources will leverage significant positive change.
