Windham Fund Grants
This fund provides financial support for nonprofits working on projects that improve the quality of life in rural communities across West-Central Texas.
The Windham Fund, established in honor of Dr. Paula Andree Windham, aims to address issues and improve the quality of life in rural communities throughout West-Central Texas. This fund supports special projects, capacity building, and capital projects to enhance the quality of life in outlying communities in the greater West-Central Texas region. Nonprofits serving Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Jones, Kent, Knox, Mitchell, Nolan, Runnels, Scurry, Shackelford, Stephens, Stonewall, Taylor, and Throckmorton counties, as well as those within a 150-mile radius of Oplin, Texas, are eligible to apply. A required preliminary interview begins on April 1, with the online application opening on May 15 and closing on July 1. Awards are announced in mid-August.

Organizations with an IRS tax-exempt status, municipalities, local governments, volunteer fire departments (VFDs), churches, school districts, universities, colleges, trade schools, and chamber organizations located in a rural area. A rural area is defined by the Foundation as all territory that is not within the extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) of any city having a population of 100,000 or more.
