Grant Description

The 2025 Strengthening Partner Capacity Grant, administered by the Peter & Elizabeth Tower Foundation, is designed to support organizations in enhancing their operational capacity to better serve their communities. The focus of the grant is on building or strengthening systems, structures, cultures, skills, resources, and organizational power. It prioritizes organizations serving individuals aged 26 or younger affected by intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health challenges, or substance use disorders. Special emphasis is placed on applicants serving historically marginalized communities, such as Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American/Indigenous Peoples, those with disabilities, and individuals facing housing insecurity or immigration challenges. Eligible organizations must currently operate in specific regions, including Massachusetts counties (Barnstable, Dukes, Essex, and Nantucket) and New York counties (Erie and Niagara). Applicants must be not-for-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, public benefit corporations, public or diocesan school districts, or private/charter schools. Other organizations may apply through a fiscal sponsor. Organizations with a recent history of receiving grants from the Foundation are less likely to be prioritized. Applicants whose proposals were previously declined may reapply in subsequent cycles. Grants are awarded for one year with a maximum funding amount of $30,000, including a 20% administrative overhead. A total of $1,050,000 is available for 2025, distributed across three cycles, with $350,000 awarded per cycle. Each cycle is expected to fund approximately 20 grants in varying amounts, including five grants at $30,000, five at $20,000, and ten at $10,000 or less. Applicants are required to submit a budget but are not obligated to provide quotes for goods or services. The Foundation is interested in proposals that address capacity-building needs such as leadership development, diversity and inclusion, evaluation design, strategic planning, technology purchasing, and staff mental wellness. Small capital projects and professional development may also be supported. The Foundation will not fund existing staff positions, general operating expenses, multi-year projects, or service delivery activities. Preference is given to projects addressing the needs of the focus populations outlined. Applications are due January 17, May 30, and September 26, 2025, corresponding to the three funding cycles. Decisions will be communicated on March 3, July 11, and November 7, respectively. First-time applicants are strongly encouraged to consult with a Program Officer to ensure alignment with the grantโ€™s objectives. The Foundation accepts applications via its grants portal, with accommodations available for alternative submission formats or applicants facing accessibility challenges. For support, applicants can schedule consultations with a Program Officer, email questions, or request technical assistance through the grants portal. Organizations interested in this funding opportunity are encouraged to engage with the Foundation well in advance of the submission deadlines to ensure a comprehensive and competitive application.
