Regular Grants 2025
This funding opportunity provides financial support for nonprofit organizations in the U.S., particularly in California, to acquire capital assets for projects focused on animal protection, wildlife conservation, agriculture, environmental preservation, and the arts.
The Glide Foundation offers annual grant funding to support capital asset needs across a prioritized spectrum of charitable purposes. The Foundation is governed by Trustees Russell E. White, Sarah S. White, and Richard D. Bruga, DVM, who have full discretion in selecting grantees. The Foundation is recognized as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701(d), allowing it to distribute funds to eligible nonprofits operating within the United States, with preference given to California-based entities. The Foundation’s grants are made exclusively to tax-exempt organizations and are divided into two categories: Regular Grants and Major Grants. Regular Grants are typically capped at $20,000 and are meant for standard capital asset acquisitions, whereas Major Grants, capped at $50,000, are reserved for more substantial and strategic capital projects that cannot be addressed by Regular Grants alone. Major Grant applicants must ensure that at least 50% of their services align with the Foundation’s priority areas and must not have received a Major Grant from the Foundation in the preceding three years, except under special circumstances approved by the Trustees. The Foundation prioritizes funding for organizations engaged in animal protection (such as SPCA and Humane Societies), wildlife and land conservation, agriculture, preservation of natural environments like wetlands, and the arts including opera and symphony. Organizations where less than 50% of operations support these purposes may still be considered for funding if their requests directly relate to one or more of these target areas. Grants are limited to capital expenditures only and cannot be used for operating costs, individual assistance, sports-related activities, debt servicing, or educational or religious programs unless exceptional criteria are met. Applications for both Regular and Major Grants must be submitted exclusively online. The 2025 grant application window opens May 15 and closes at 11:59 PM on August 15. Only one application per organization will be accepted during each cycle. Between May 15 and August 1, applicants may receive requests for corrections, after which (August 2–15) no resubmissions or edits are permitted, and erroneous applications may be rejected outright. Applications will not be available before May 15 and must be completed online with all supporting documentation uploaded—no physical copies will be accepted. All grants will be awarded by December 15 of the same year. Applicants are advised to submit early to allow time for potential revisions. Notifications or requests for additional information will be sent via email, and applicants are expected to monitor their inboxes during the application window. Evaluation criteria include the alignment with priority service areas, significance and maturity of the capital request, demonstrated service history, and community need. For more information about the Foundation’s guidelines or to submit an application, applicants must visit the online portal made available via the Foundation’s website. Technical support and additional questions should be directed through the contact mechanisms within the portal, as no specific phone number or email is publicly provided in the guidelines.
