2024-2025 LSS Literacy Grant

The Literary Society of the Southwest offers the 2024-2025 Literacy Grant to support organizations improving literacy skills for children and youth, from birth through 12th grade, within Arizona. This grant focuses on funding direct project or program expenses for 501(c)(3) public charities that enhance reading and writing capabilities. Eligible applicants must provide literacy-related programs in Arizona and maintain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code. Grant requests of up to $15,000 are considered for program support. Applications are accepted online through the Society's website from September 1, 2024, to December 1, 2024, with a submission deadline at 5 p.m. All applicants will be notified of the funding decision by March 7, 2025. Awarded organizations will have the opportunity to attend a Literary Society luncheon during the week of March 10, 2025, offering networking and acknowledgment opportunities. Funding exclusions include support for endowment funds, capital or building campaigns, food and beverage expenses, fundraising events, pass-through grants, individual scholarships, and lobbying activities. Multi-year funding is not provided, nor is funding available for programs that discriminate or primarily promote religious or political views. School districts are also ineligible for this funding. The Literary Society of the Southwest, aligned with its mission to celebrate contemporary literature and foster literacy across Arizona, seeks to strengthen community engagement with literature through its support of literacy programs.
