The Aultman Foundation Grant Program
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in specific Ohio counties to improve community health by addressing access to care, supporting the aging population, and promoting healthy behaviors.
The Aultman Foundation administers a strategic grant-giving program designed to support nonprofit organizations that improve community health outcomes within its defined service region in Ohio. Since 2007, the Foundation has distributed more than $2.3 million in grants to eligible organizations, reflecting its ongoing commitment to strengthening access to healthcare and promoting healthier communities. Grant-making is a core component of the Foundation’s mission and is guided by clearly defined health priorities. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Funded projects must serve residents in one or more of the following Ohio counties: Carroll, Holmes, Stark, Tuscarawas, or Wayne. Organizations may submit only one grant application per year for consideration. The Foundation’s funding priorities focus on addressing pressing community health needs rather than supporting general operating or material assistance programs. Grant requests must align with at least one of three priority areas established by the Foundation. Access to Care includes initiatives that expand availability of high-quality, affordable, holistic, and culturally relevant healthcare or mental healthcare services. Support for the Aging Population includes programs focused on geriatric services, caregiver support, and fall prevention. Promotion of Healthy Behaviors includes efforts related to obesity prevention, chronic disease management, suicide prevention, and substance use disorder services. The Foundation generally does not approve requests for capital projects, endowment funds, fundraisers, sponsorships, or assistance to individuals. Requests for food, clothing, housing assistance, or utility assistance are also not typically funded. Applicants are expected to demonstrate how proposed activities directly advance one or more of the stated priority areas and produce meaningful community impact. The application period opens annually on January 1 and closes on February 28. During this time, eligible organizations may download the official grant application, complete all required sections, and submit the application along with required attachments by email. Submissions must be received within the designated application window to be considered for funding. All completed applications are reviewed by The Aultman Foundation Board of Directors. Funding decisions are made during the summer following the application period. Organizations seeking clarification or additional information about the application process may contact the Foundation’s Grants Officer for assistance.
