The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage provides several highly competitive grant opportunities in 2025 to support cultural organizations and artists in the five-county Philadelphia region. Their grants aim to foster dynamic, distinctive, and inclusive cultural experiences, reinforcing Philadelphia's reputation as a vibrant arts hub. All grant programs focus on excellence, conceptual rigor, and meaningful engagement with multicultural audiences.
The Center offers three major grant streams: Creative Project Grants, Evolving Futures Grants, and Pew Fellowships. Interested applicants must first submit an Inquiry Form to determine eligibility. All projects must align with the Centerโs focus on public art and cultural engagement rather than educational or primarily academic programming.
Creative Project Grants support substantive, innovative exhibitions, performances, and public interpretation projects. Applicants can be independent nonprofits or fiscally sponsored organizations, each requiring a minimum $150,000 annual budget and at least two years of public programming experience.
Evolving Futures Grants are available only to organizations that have previously received Pew project grants between 2014โ2024. These grants fund strategic operational changes for long-term sustainability. There are two tracks: Planning Grants for preparatory work and Implementation Grants for organizations ready to enact strategic changes.
Capacity Building Grants (available to applicants for the above programs) provide additional resources to support travel, research, technical assistance, and feasibility studies during the application process, prioritizing small organizations.
Pew Fellowships are awarded by nomination only and provide unrestricted $85,000 awards to individual artists living in the Philadelphia area.
Deadlines for submitting Letters of Intent for Creative Project and Evolving Futures grants are May 15, 2025, at 4:00 PM EST, with full applications due July 25, 2025. All applicants are reviewed through a diverse, external panel process to ensure fair and field-wide evaluation.
