TThe Junior League of Tyler, Inc. is a women-led organization dedicated to fostering meaningful community impact through volunteerism, leadership development, and collaboration. This nonprofit's mission is focused on promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities via trained volunteers. Their grantmaking activities specifically support projects benefiting residents of Smith County, Texas. The organization currently offers two main grant opportunities: the Community Coordinating Grants and the Community Assistance Fund. The Community Coordinating Grants are intended for large-scale, sustainable projects that demonstrate long-term impact within Smith County and are capable of involving Junior League volunteers. These grants are open for application between June 9, 2025, and September 5, 2025, with the funding period running from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027. Applicants are encouraged to request the full amount of funds needed, although partial grants may be awarded at the League’s discretion. To qualify for Community Coordinating Grants, projects must align with at least one of the Junior League’s official position statements. Applicants must also be able to show a clear need for Junior League volunteer involvement and demonstrate how the project can be sustained beyond the funding period. Grant funds must be fully spent and reimbursed within the designated funding window. Required documentation includes the IRS Tax Determination Letter, Board of Directors, operating budget, year-end financials, and a completed project budget using the League’s provided template. The Community Assistance Fund offers grants of up to $5,000 for urgent, short-term needs that are unforeseen and not covered by existing budgets. Applications must show that the need could otherwise disrupt services or programs. Like the Coordinating Grants, these funds must benefit Smith County residents, and applicants must be nonprofit organizations with valid 501(c)(3) status. Applications are accepted from June 1 through May 1 of each fiscal year, with only one grant allowed per fiscal year. Applicants must provide detailed documentation, including a project description, funding use explanation, proof of nonprofit status, financials, and a board list. Applicants for either grant are expected to complete thorough application forms, with questions including project overview, funding amount, contact details, and organizational information.
