Seed Grants

The Seed Grant program supports groups initiating new projects or significantly changing the direction of an existing project, usually within their first year and with limited direct implementation experience. It aims to empower community groups who incorporate a broad range of voices and are underserved by other funders. The Grassroots Fund broadly defines 'environment' to encompass a wide range of activities, emphasizing participatory grantmaking to address environmental justice intersections in grassroots efforts. These grants prioritize volunteer-driven groups or those with fewer than two full-time staff, targeting groups with an annual operating budget under $100,000.
