CFHC Community Grant

The Community Grants program administered by the Community Foundation of Henderson County is designed to address dynamic needs and opportunities within Henderson County, North Carolina. Established to support the community through unrestricted and broadly defined interest area gifts, the Foundation leverages donor contributions to provide financial support for initiatives that improve the quality of life in the region. The Foundation encourages applications from nonprofit organizations whose efforts align with the broader objectives of community development, collaboration, and preventive approaches. This grant program provides funding to tax-exempt organizations for programs that benefit residents of Henderson County. Projects are expected to reflect collaboration among organizations, demonstrate measurable impact on broad population segments, and minimize service duplication. Priority is given to proposals that emphasize early intervention, present potential for replication, or show strong prospects for continued financial support. The Foundation does not fund annual campaigns, individual scholarships, political or religious activities, or organizations lacking tax-exempt status. Applications are accepted quarterly, with submission deadlines falling on March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1. All applications must be submitted through the Community Foundation’s online Grants Portal by 11:30 p.m. on the respective due date. The application process requires registration on the portal, completion of necessary forms, and submission of documentation supporting the proposed initiative. The Foundation provides instructional videos to assist applicants in navigating the portal. The review process typically concludes with award notifications issued approximately two months following the application deadline. Each organization may only receive one Community Grant per twelve-month period. Grant amounts and specific funding limits are not disclosed in advance, and awards are made based on proposal strength and alignment with Foundation priorities. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt entities with programs either based in Henderson County or that directly benefit its residents. Organizations must be able to demonstrate their nonprofit status and articulate how their project aligns with the Foundation’s priority areas.
