Parshall Area Community Foundation Grants

The Parshall Area Community Foundation (PACF) is a locally managed charitable fund established in 2011 by a group of committed citizens with the goal of supporting nonprofit projects and organizations in the Parshall, North Dakota area. The Foundation operates under the broader North Dakota Community Foundation (NDCF), which oversees a variety of community funds across the state. The PACF is administered by a local advisory committee, which includes residents who focus on fundraising and recommending grant distributions each year. Community involvement is strongly encouraged, both through donations and participation in the advisory committee’s activities. The Foundation’s purpose is to offer a systematic way for individuals and organizations to contribute to the well-being of the Parshall community. Grants are awarded annually to projects or programs that will have a meaningful impact on the area. The types of initiatives prioritized for funding are those expected to benefit the greatest number of residents and those that demonstrate a commitment to securing additional funding from other sources. The PACF is especially focused on supporting capital or programmatic projects that contribute to long-term community development and improved quality of life in Parshall and its neighboring communities. Grants from the Parshall Area Community Foundation are restricted to organizations that are classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code or to government agencies. Religious organizations may also apply, but only for projects or programs that are non-denominational and serve the broader community, not specific congregational needs. All grant-funded activities must take place within Parshall or surrounding communities as defined by the advisory committee. Applications are not accepted from individuals, for-profit entities, or projects that primarily fund operating expenses or seek multi-year support. Such requests are considered low priority. The annual grant cycle for PACF opens on July 1st and closes on September 29th, with all applications due no later than October 1 each year. The application process is managed online through the NDCF Grant Portal, which requires applicants to create an account and provide organizational details such as EIN and executive officer’s name. The online system allows applicants to save their work and return to complete the application at any time before the deadline. Detailed instructions for using the portal are provided by the Foundation. Evaluation of applications is performed by the local advisory committee, who review proposals according to the established criteria and funding priorities. Projects that are likely to benefit a larger segment of the community and show evidence of other financial support are given the highest consideration. The committee also manages inquiries and provides guidance throughout the process, and applicants are encouraged to reach out with questions before submitting their materials. Decisions regarding grant awards are typically announced after the application deadline has passed.
