Lewisville Community Center Program Grant

The Mary Alice Warren Community Center (MAWCC) Programming Grants are administered by the Shallow Ford Foundation, a local philanthropic organization focused on fostering community enrichment in the Lewisville, North Carolina area. This grant program is partially supported by the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, highlighting a collaborative effort to provide community-based services through nonprofit partnerships. The Foundation encourages projects that enhance the cultural, artistic, and educational offerings available to the community by utilizing the facilities at MAWCC. The primary objective of the MAWCC Programming Grants is to make programming at the community center affordable, accessible, and enriching for Lewisville residents. The grant supports a wide range of programming formats, including both single-day events and multi-session programs. Programs may be free or charge registration fees, depending on the applicant's design and funding needs. The grant is specifically designed to foster public engagement and education while utilizing the Mary Alice Warren Community Center as the venue for all funded activities. Eligible programs must align with the Foundation’s emphasis on community enrichment. Preferred program types include senior-focused activities, musical concerts, art instruction, and workshops that emphasize practical, take-home skills or interactive entertainment, such as games. However, the venue does not permit certain types of programming. Specifically, film screenings, fitness or exercise classes, and art installations are not eligible for funding due to logistical constraints or overlap with current offerings. All funded activities must occur on-site at MAWCC and must be completed no later than December 31, 2026. Eligibility is limited to nonprofit organizations with verified IRS 501(c)(3) status, excluding 509(a) private foundations, or governmental/quasi-governmental agencies. Individual applicants are not eligible. Eligible organizations do not need to be based in Lewisville or Clemmons but must be willing and able to execute programming on-site at MAWCC. Applicants must have at least three years of operational history as documented in their IRS determination letter and must hold a current Charitable Solicitation License issued by the North Carolina Secretary of State. The Foundation strongly encourages potential applicants to contact them if there is uncertainty regarding eligibility. Applicants are responsible for providing all program-specific materials. The Community Center will offer support by providing standard venue equipment such as tables, chairs, and A/V connections. However, organizations must comply with all facility use guidelines and procedures as stipulated by the Community Center. Coordination with the venue to schedule program times is required. The application period is currently open and will remain active until early October 2025, when awards are expected to be announced. The Foundation invites inquiries from applicants unsure about the fit of their proposed programs and offers proposal consultations with their Program Officer. This grant cycle is not recurring, and there is no indication that the grant will be reissued after the current application period.
