SWEP Greater Philadelphia Chapter Grant
This grant provides financial support to projects that promote environmental leadership and education for women and girls in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
The Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP) Greater Philadelphia Chapter is accepting applications for its 2026 Grant Program, which aims to support the environmental leadership and development of women and girls in the Greater Philadelphia Region. As part of SWEP’s ongoing mission to encourage achievement and professional growth in the environmental field, this grant initiative provides targeted financial support to projects that enhance, protect, or restore the natural environment through creative, community-based approaches. The program also emphasizes environmental education, especially for women and girls, fostering greater inclusion in science, engineering, and related environmental disciplines. For the 2026 cycle, SWEP has allocated a total of $6,000 to be distributed among selected applicants. These funds are intended to bolster the effectiveness of regional programs and organizations whose work aligns with SWEP’s environmental and educational priorities. The grant supports locally defined environmental needs, including initiatives that provide environmental awareness through direct educational sessions or community engagement activities. While applicants do not have to be nonprofit organizations, those that are must submit documentation confirming their nonprofit status. To be eligible, organizations must be based in the Greater Philadelphia Region. Proposals are assessed on several criteria, including the anticipated impact of SWEP funding on program execution, the portion of the program's budget that would be covered by the grant, the extent of benefit to women and girls, and the project's overall uniqueness. Programs that demonstrate a strong alignment with SWEP’s mission—particularly those that engage women and girls in environmental issues—are prioritized during evaluation. The application process for the 2026 grant cycle closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 24, 2026. All applicants must include a secondary point of contact in the event the primary is unavailable. Supporting materials may be submitted alongside the application and should be emailed to the SWEP Scholarship and Grant Committee at [email protected]. Applicants will be notified of their selection status on or around May 15, 2026. Upon substantial completion of their funded projects, recipients are required to submit a final report to SWEP. This report should summarize project outcomes and, where possible, include photographs to help the committee and membership understand the grant’s impact. Highlights from recipient programs may be shared at SWEP’s annual Touchstone Awards Reception. For any additional questions, applicants may contact the committee chair, Ms. Ann Mathew, at [email protected] or at [email protected].
