Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Grant Program
This program provides $2,000 in funding and business consultation to Pennsylvania-based creative entrepreneurs operating micro businesses in various creative industries.
The Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Program is a state-funded initiative aimed at empowering Pennsylvania-based creative entrepreneurs. Designed specifically for individuals either starting or currently operating a for-profit micro business in the creative industries, this program recognizes the essential role that creative professionals play in fostering innovation, economic growth, and community identity. Administered by Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) in collaboration with regional partners such as the Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) and the PA Small Business Development Centers, the program offers both consultative support and direct grant funding. The program provides a one-time grant of $2,000 alongside personalized small business consultation services. These services are offered free of charge and are delivered by designated referral coordinators from local business development organizations. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 years or older, have been residents of Pennsylvania for at least one year, and demonstrate gross business revenues of less than $200,000. The business must fall within one of the specified creative industry sectors such as marketing, visual arts, architecture, design, film and media, music, entertainment, publishing, and digital games. Additionally, applicants must possess all necessary legal documentation—licenses, permits, leases, and certifications—relevant to their business activities. The application process is structured to ensure that entrepreneurs have a solid foundation. Each applicant must engage in at least one consultation session with a referral coordinator to review or build their business plan. After the consultation, the coordinator submits a referral form to the regional PPA partner, who then determines eligibility and fund availability. If the application is deemed eligible and complete, the entrepreneur enters into a formal award agreement. Data entry and reporting are facilitated through the Impact Management System (IMS) and Business Growth Ladder (BGL), which help track business development progress. Grant funds must be used to activate business growth and sustainability. Eligible uses include fees for professional development (workshops, seminars, coaching), participation in revenue-generating events (trade shows, festivals), marketing and technology upgrades, studio or retail space rent, research and development, and collaboration with supporting artists. Conversely, ineligible uses include routine operating expenses such as salaries, food, hospitality, academic activities, or political lobbying. Final reporting is required, including data entry into the BGL system and submission of receipts. Failure to complete these requirements may result in ineligibility for future funding. Applications for the current cycle opened on January 1, 2026, and will close on March 16, 2026. The program allows applicants to reapply every three years, though preference is given to those who have not received prior funding. Reapplicants must undergo a new consultation and demonstrate progress in their business plan. The grant is considered taxable income and is not classified as a gift; applicants are advised to consult tax professionals for guidance. For more information or to begin the application process, interested creative entrepreneurs are encouraged to contact their regional PPA partner. Additional support and answers to application-related questions can be obtained by reaching out to the Community Investment Team at TFEC via email at [email protected] or by phone at 717-236-5040. Questions are accepted at any time throughout the process.
