The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Public Safety offers Anti-Violence Community Partnership Grants to support initiatives aimed at reducing violence, enhancing community capacity, and creating sustainable positive impacts in neighborhoods most affected by gun violence. This funding opportunity is administered with the support of the Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) and provides both financial support and technical assistance to grantees through partner organizations that specialize in areas like finance, strategic planning, grant writing, communications, data solutions, and trauma-informed care.
The grants fund several types of projects including community engagement and outreach, educational programming, resource fairs, job training, and neighborhood beautification. Special consideration is given to projects operating in high-violence Philadelphia ZIP codes, programs serving residents aged 16 to 34—particularly Black and brown boys—and organizations with a successful track record as prior grantees.
Three specific grant types are offered. The Targeted Community Investment Grant (TCIG) provides $1,500 to $50,000 for community-based violence prevention programs. The Community Expansion Grant (CEG) offers between $100,000 and $1 million for organizations working on trauma-informed healing, restorative practices, mentorship, and providing safe havens. The Community Capacity Grant (CCG) supports former TCIG grantees with awards ranging from $50,000 to $100,000 to enhance organizational capacity.
Eligible applicants must deliver anti-violence programming in Philadelphia, led by local residents for local residents, and must have an operating budget under $7.5 million. Additionally, applicants receiving over $20,000 must have operated as a 501(c)(3), LLC, or B-Corp for at least three years. City employees are not eligible to apply. Application packages typically require tax documents, proof of tax designation, a project and operating budget, proof of a bank account, reference letters, and possibly a board of directors list.
Although applications are currently closed, updates are periodically announced on the City of Philadelphia's website and through official channels. Inquiries can be directed to AntiViolenceGrants@phila.gov. Previous news releases indicate the most recent application round opened in March 2024.
