The Pittsburg Downtown Advisory Board (DAB) is currently accepting applications for its 2025 Downtown Mural Grant, a local initiative aimed at enhancing public art in the city’s downtown district. This grant program offers matching funds for up to three mural projects, with a total of $1,500 available to distribute among selected applicants. The funding is exclusively for new mural designs and does not support restoration or replication of existing artwork.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until October 17, 2025, or until all funds are awarded. Proposals are reviewed during the DAB’s monthly meetings, held on the third Monday of each month. Funding will be awarded based on the quantity and quality of applications received, and the grant will only be disbursed once the mural is completed. Mural projects must be fully installed and documented by December 1, 2025.
To qualify, applicants must submit their completed form and all required attachments to Sarah Runyon, Community Development Specialist, via email at sarah.runyon@pittks.org. Attachments include an artist quote, a rendering of the mural design, a scaled rendering of the mural on the proposed building, and written approval from the property owner if the applicant is not the owner.
The grant is designed to incentivize vibrant, original public art while engaging the community and beautifying shared spaces. Artists must be identified in the application, and proof of their portfolio (via link or attachments) is required. Upon completion, grantees must submit a receipt verifying payment to the artist and undergo final approval from DAB staff, who will inspect the completed mural to ensure it aligns with the approved concept.
This program serves to foster artistic engagement, economic revitalization, and community identity in Pittsburg’s downtown core, providing a small but targeted investment in cultural infrastructure. It is a low-barrier, localized grant for building owners or tenants interested in contributing to the district’s visual appeal.
For questions, applicants may contact Sarah Runyon at 620-230-5637 or visit the City of Pittsburg’s website for additional guidelines and application forms.
Choose a visible location with public engagement potential. Ensure mural is original and aligns with building owner’s permissions. Submit early as funding is limited.
