Grant Description

The Community Partner Resilience Grant program, administered by the Rhode Island Foundation, is a rolling, needs-based funding initiative aimed at supporting 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island that are experiencing hardship due to federal funding cuts, freezes, contract terminations, or related policy changes. This grant initiative is part of the Foundation’s broader strategy to stabilize and strengthen the nonprofit sector amid evolving federal dynamics. The program provides grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000, with at least $1 million in total funds to be distributed. Funding is intended to support strategic and capacity-building activities such as financial and scenario planning, development consulting, crisis communications, and other professional services that help organizations navigate and recover from sudden federal funding disruptions. In limited cases, general operating support may also be awarded. Grants are awarded to Rhode Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits, though groups working under a fiscal sponsor may also be considered if the sponsor holds valid tax-exempt status. Fiscal sponsors themselves may also apply separately for their own organizational support under this program. The program does not fund individuals, for-profit entities, event sponsorships, or capital projects. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis, and the opportunity will remain open until all funds are awarded. Organizations are eligible to receive only one grant through this program but may still apply for other Foundation grants, including those offered through the Community Priority and Capacity Building programs. Grantees may be asked to report on progress and submit a final summary report detailing outcomes achieved through the funded support. The Foundation also encourages applicants to consult with its Grants and Community Investments team to identify the best fit among its various funding options. For questions, organizations are encouraged to contact Helen Morales at hmorales@rifoundation.org or (401) 427-4013. More details and application access are available through the Foundation’s website
