Grant Description

The Wethersfield Greater Together Community Fund, established by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving in 2019, was created as part of a larger initiative to distribute $100,000 in community-based funds to each of the 29 towns within the Foundation's region, including Wethersfield, Connecticut. The Fund's core mission is to empower local residents to take an active role in addressing needs within their town while encouraging broad, inclusive civic engagement. The Wethersfield Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Council now invites proposals for community-benefiting projects from eligible organizations. This 2025 funding round will make available a total of up to $40,000, which may be awarded to one or multiple projects. The initiative is designed to support nonprofit organizations or resident groups partnered with a fiscal sponsor, such as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit or the Town of Wethersfield itself. Projects funded must directly benefit Wethersfield residents and demonstrate inclusivity, ensuring they do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, or other protected categories. Proposals can serve targeted segments of the community, provided there is a clear explanation of how the initiative meets those needs equitably. The fund is particularly focused on six priority areas: support services (including food and energy assistance, programs for at-risk youth, support for victims of domestic violence, and aid for the elderly, disabled, or low-income individuals), youth mental health, efforts to combat human trafficking, initiatives promoting diversity and equity, affordable childcare, and leadership development. Projects are expected to last for up to 12 months, and while the typical award range is between $5,000 and $10,000, the Advisory Council reserves the right to issue awards outside this range depending on the merit of the proposals received. Eligible applicants include any nonprofit organization with IRS 501(c)(3) status that serves Wethersfield residents. Local resident groups may apply in partnership with a fiscal agent. However, individuals, for-profit businesses, and civic organizations without a 501(c)(3) designation are not eligible. Each applicant may submit only one proposal during the cycle. If applicants need assistance identifying a fiscal agent, they are encouraged to contact the Wethersfield Advisory Council. Applications must be submitted using the official form available through the Wethersfield Greater Together Community Fund. All materials, including any supporting documents, must be submitted via email to the Wethersfield Advisory Council by Wednesday, July 30, 2025, no later than 5:00 PM. Incomplete applications or submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. There is no requirement for formal post-award reporting; however, the Advisory Council may follow up informally to inquire about program progress or the grant experience. Key dates for this grant cycle are as follows: the Request for Proposals was released on June 15, 2025, and the application deadline is July 30, 2025. Grant award announcements will be made on September 30, 2025. For all questions or assistance during the application process, applicants should contact the Wethersfield Advisory Council.
