Read Conmigo Educator Grants

The Kemper Foundation, through its Read Conmigo initiative, supports bilingual education by offering Educator Grants to enhance dual-language learning environments. This program is specifically designed to benefit Spanish-English dual-language programs in selected counties across California, Florida, and Texas. The foundation, which is committed to advancing education and literacy, offers these grants biannually to empower educators with the resources they need to foster bilingualism in elementary students. Each year, The Kemper Foundation provides up to 100 Read Conmigo Educator Grants. Each grant amounts to $3,000 and is designated for educators working full-time in dual-language Spanish-English programs at accredited public or charter elementary schools in specific counties. In California, eligible counties include Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura. In Florida, eligible applicants must be based in Broward or Miami-Dade counties, while in Texas, the eligible area is Dallas County. The purpose of the funding is to support classroom resources or professional development initiatives that directly enhance the quality of dual-language education for bilingual students. This could include the purchase of teaching materials, software, or training sessions that improve language instruction capabilities. To be eligible, applicants must be full-time licensed teachers with at least two years of experience in dual-language programs. Additionally, at least 50% of their instructional time must be dedicated to group teaching, not one-on-one sessions. The grant application must be submitted via the foundation's online grants portal.
