The Robert B. Daugherty Foundation provides grants to organizations that support community initiatives in Nebraska, particularly the Greater Omaha area. The Foundation prioritizes funding projects that create meaningful and lasting impact in areas such as community development, education, health, and capacity building. Grant awards may be one-time or span multiple years, up to a maximum of three years, and may include support for programs, capital campaigns, or matching grants.
Grants are awarded exclusively to tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations or qualifying governmental entities under Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation gives preference to projects that include matching funds and generally avoids funding for endowments, individual benefits, religious activities, international projects without domestic partners, or fundraising events.
The application process is managed entirely online, and the Foundation does not set specific deadlines. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis by the Board of Trustees, which meets periodically throughout the year. Applicants are limited to one application per calendar year, regardless of whether they have previously received funding.
A successful application must include a comprehensive overview of the organization and a clear narrative detailing the proposed project. The Foundation may request additional documentation and all grantees must sign a Grant Agreement. This agreement includes a requirement for a certified report verifying that the funds were used in accordance with the proposal.
Prospective applicants are advised to review the Foundation’s online guidelines, tips for applying, and FAQs before submitting. The Foundation may delete inactive applications that remain unfinished for over a year. For questions or support with the online portal, applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation at grants@daughertyfdn.org.
