Utah AmeriCorps State Program
This funding opportunity supports existing AmeriCorps programs in Utah that address community needs in areas such as education, disaster services, and environmental stewardship, while focusing on specific state priorities like housing stability and youth mental health.
UServeUtah, the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism, is currently accepting applications for the 2026–2027 cycle of the Utah AmeriCorps State program. This funding opportunity is designed to support the operation of AmeriCorps State programs throughout Utah, with a strong focus on addressing pressing community needs through service. UServeUtah functions as a pass-through administrator of federal AmeriCorps funds and conducts a competitive annual grant process. For the 2026 cycle, funding is restricted to existing AmeriCorps programs within the commission’s current portfolio due to limited resources. These programs are not eligible to request increased funding amounts beyond their current allocations. AmeriCorps State programs in Utah serve a wide range of issue areas, including education, disaster services, healthy futures, economic opportunity, environmental stewardship, and support for veterans and military families. Programs must align with at least one of these priority domains and may receive additional consideration if they also address one of the Utah State Priority Areas: housing stability and homelessness prevention, youth mental health outcomes, K–3 early literacy, or environmental resilience with emphasis on the Great Salt Lake. Priority Components may also be incorporated, including workforce development pathways, alignment with state service initiatives, and promoting civic dialogue. Eligible applicants include subdivisions of the state, Native American tribal organizations, public or private nonprofit organizations (including religious and labor organizations), and institutions of higher education. All programs must be capable of managing at least 10 full-time AmeriCorps member positions or a part-time equivalent per program year. Grantees are responsible for recruiting, selecting, and managing their AmeriCorps members and ensuring program compliance. Additional programmatic requirements are specified in the official application instructions. The grant application process requires mandatory participation in one of several scheduled virtual Applicant Information Sessions occurring between February 23 and February 27, 2026. Attendance is required for all applicants prior to submission. Applicants must submit an Intent to Apply by March 5, 2026, followed by the full application submission due by April 6, 2026. Award notifications are expected in late May 2026. Applications and instructions will become available following the final information session and will be published online through the UServeUtah AmeriCorps Grant Application Information page. AmeriCorps funding provided through this opportunity follows a cost-reimbursement or fixed-amount structure depending on the grant type. Application materials are segmented accordingly into Planning, Operational, Cost-Reimbursement, or Education Award Program (EAP) categories, each with its own narrative and form requirements. All programs must comply with AmeriCorps federal guidelines and the terms set forth in the Utah NOFO documentation. No funding match or cost share is stated as required, and no specific floor or ceiling award limits are defined beyond the requirement to remain within existing program allocations for returning grantees. Questions regarding this funding opportunity can be directed to Janessa Edwards at [email protected]. All information provided is subject to change based on the release and terms of the national AmeriCorps NOFO, which governs the state-level implementation.
